Brooklyn Eagle, 24 Sept 1900, page 5 - King's Daughters Fair, Port Washington, L.I., Sept. 24th - the annual fair of the King's Daughters Society for the benefit of the Methodist Episcopal Church closed Sat. evening with a large attendance. A delightful entertainment was given... At the tables the following young women were in charge:  Ice cream table - Misses Viola Seaman, Ida Jones, Florence Van Wicklen, Mamie Whetmore and Elsie Carpenter.

Brooklyn Eagle, 6 May 1901, page 9 - Church Broken Into - Port Washington, L.I., May 6 - The First M.E. Church was broken into Saturday night by some unknown parties, for when Sexton William Van Wicklen opened the church yesterday morning he found the lock broken. An examination of the properties showed that nothing had been taken.
